Orton Hall Testimonials
"Orton Hall is a good base for the Lake District and we enjoyed travelling the B and C class roads, through the old villages to Ullswater. We would recommend a stay here."

"The Naseby Suite had recently been refurbished and, as such, was very shiny, new, and clean. The facilities were great and use of the Great Hall was an added bonus. The only slight problem was due to the newness of the suite there were not the 'helpful' odds and ends left in the kitchen like oil etc that you usually find in similar apartments. But that is a really a very minor point!"

"The apartment (Separate living room, Kitchen and Bathroom) was great. I will be looking at booking Orton Hall again later this year."

"We had a fantastic stay at Orton Hall, beautiful building and grounds, perfect for a romantic getaway. Amazing suite, really well equipped and spotlessly clean. Great value for money, inclusive of use at the Spa in Penrith. We loved staying here and are looking at dates to book up again and again and......."

"This is the second time we have stayed at Orton hall, it is a great place to retreat to a bit of peace and quiet. Orton is a quiet village which is why we chose to return after our 1st stay, because you can just chill and relax. Orton hall is excellent accommodation, it is a home from home, everything you need is available in the apartments. Just arrive and relax if that is your aim, but there is plenty to see and do in the surrounding areas. Great food to be had at the Cross keys. All in all we have had 2 excellent stays at the Royalist suite and we shall return in the future."

"Lovely place for adventure! Beautiful suite and at 1/4 of the price through late rooms a bargain! The secret door in the bookcase was great! Very romantic setting would definitely return. Nice bonus that you get free use of the north lakes spa. Well worth a visit."

"Had a wonderful peaceful, relaxing and romantic break. The apartment was spotlessly clean and looks just like the photos.
Within a very short time the apartment was lovely and warm and stayed that way throughout our stay.
The kitchen is fully equipped with pots, pans, cooking utensils, crockery, glassware, in fact everything for a home away from home. (Ours even had tin foil, cling film and cleaning products in the cupboards)!
For food and supplies you do need to drive, but would highly recommend The Cross Keys for hot food in the neighbouring town (about 4/5 mins away). They had a lovely real fire going and the staff were so helpful and friendly. Our meal was freshly cooked and was delicious. There’s also a Morrisons in Kendal, which isn’t far.
Orton Hall ticks all the right boxes for a quiet relaxing break and was EXCELLENT value for money. Would highly recommend it and will definitely go there again."

"Had the best long weekend ever in this fantastic accommodation, will never stay anywhere else when visiting this area. Have already booked to return next month as we liked it so much and have recommended it to family and friends. The suites are immaculately clean and the owners have thought of everything you may need from a corkscrew to picnic set, even small touches such as washing up liquid, iron, ironing board, etc. if you're looking for home from home then this is the perfect place. If I win the lottery I will definitely consider making an offer to buy one of these suites!"

"We have a toddler and it's great to have so much space - a little apartment for the price of a hotel room and space to put the toddler 'to bed' and enjoy the rest of the evening."

"We stayed in the apartment with the *secret* door in the bookcase. It was fabulous. The description on the site does not do it justice and it was worth every penny.
The chocolate factory was minutes walk away, as was the pub. The chocolate factory does delicious waffles, but we didn't eat in the pub as both times we ventured in the atmosphere was unwelcoming and not suited to an evening meal.
Consequently we drove to Shap where we ate in 2 lovely pubs (there was a really wide selection)."

"Superb accommodation. Just what we wanted for a quiet romantic break. One of Cumbria’s well kept secrets. We will definitely return and recommend to our family and friends."
